uuuuufff how this resonates as a Kanaka Maoli, the way Christianity and other Abrahamic religions have sought to lay waste to our realities, and do. the sexuality, the divinity in the mundane, the play, the worshipping of akua, gods, inseparable from the land and unconstrained by western-religious gender expectations,, all sacred, life giving things deemed unacceptable and peeled away from us. it’s something i mourn and tend to everyday, and it’s poetic and powerful ur centering unholy as the theme of ur birthday party, as reclamation and snarl. may this last event embody all ur intentions of liberation, and may all deemed unholy become holier than ever! happy birthday!!
This was such a powerful way to not only announce your birthday, but also your “unholy” transition without fear of judgement! I met you at an event here in the city right before you left to SS, and when I read your writings I’m grateful that I did. You spoke on several things I’ve had to face as I’m starting to produce again, with the desire to make the darkness delicious to black & brown folk. And you put words to many ideas that I’d been mulling over in my journal since I started building the Halloween show I’m cooking. This has given me a bunch to think about and (hopefully) to write about! Also, if I’m free that day, I would love nothing more than to come celebrate you and your magick ❤️🔥

I love this breakdown of Babylon. I definitely had my brow raised at the title because I knew you couldn’t possibly be talking about a rebirth for cops and I was curious where this was gonna go lol! Babylon is not a cop, SHE was policed and destroyed for what was deemed unacceptable behavior. The narratives have become contorted.
